Selinunte is an
ancient Greek colony, rival of Segesta, today constitutes the largest
archaeological park in Europe. Among its ruins is possible to visit his city
and the acropolis where there are several temples with other buildings.
The Cusa quarries are located about 10 km from Selinunte. In these caves were made
columns and capitals for the temples. The abrupt cessation of the work of
mining and processing by the stonemasons with the final abandonment through the
invasion of Carthage, now makes it possible to perceive as was the extraction and carving of the
columns of the temples in various stages of processing. The place give you the
sensation to live the yard and almost see all the workers at work.
