Islet in front of Marsala founded by the
Phoenicians in the eighth century a.C., Mothia, thanks to its geographical
position, was one of the most flourishing colonies of the West. Today dominates the Laguna Stagnone in which
nature provides a stunning setting, with saline and windmills: a play of
colors, with breathtaking sunsets. You can reach the island in a few minutes by
boat, there are boats that ply all day. Today the red villa Whitaker houses the museum which houses thousands of artifacts: pottery, jewelry,
steles, ointment jars, coins, oil lamps and in particular the statue of Young in tunic.
