Mazara del Vallo "City port-channel" that has one of
the largest fishing fleets in Italy and find in this activity an exemplary coexistence between different ethnic groups.
Part of the city is inhabited by
integrated Tunisians now restoring
the ancient casbah with colorful tiles on the facades of buildings. A
detour in the small town is justified by the newly opened marine archeology museum near the port. The museum is housed in a
former church. In its center you can admire the beautiful statue of the "dancing satyr", one of the most
beautiful sculptures and impressive greek Hellenism (recently found in the
seabed of the Strait of Sicily).
