PALERMO - 2018
Italian Capital of Culture
Once upon a time ... a city that lies at the Conca d'Oro among citrus groves, the sea and Monte Pellegrino. Through the streets of Palermo we can see the faces of ancient civilizations that have left their artistic and cultural heritage making Palermo a city from the composite face. Arab domes, baroque facades, art nouveau buildings, Norman castles, English gardens, a mix of styles and stories that make the Sicilian capital a fascinating city. And as well as various historical periods coexist side by side, just as the aristocratic soul, that of princes and barons described in “il Gattopardo”, mixes with that popular markets and villages, depicted in several famous paintings of Guttuso.
Palermo is a city rich in history as to be an open-air museum where you will never be short of things to do and see! The city, luxurious, refined and elegant, was once the city of minarets, the Garden of delights that rivaled Baghdad in the then known world. To show his elegance there are the grandiose Teatro Massimo (among the largest in the world) and the Politeama.
